White Range Hoods
Types of White Range Hoods for Every Kitchen
Maytag offers a white range hood for every kitchen. White under cabinet range hoods are perfect for those looking to place their range hood under a cabinet. Under-the-cabinet range hoods offer an effective ventilation system and a stylish design. Looking for a range hood that’s as effective as it is stylish? Wall canopy range hoods may be your answer, attaching to your wall and venting vapors and odors to the outside through the wall behind it.
For kitchens with an island cooktop, an island canopy range hood is a great option. These range hoods are suspended directly above your island cooktop and resemble the design of a wall-mounted range hood. Working with a small kitchen or trying to save space? Retractable downdraft range hoods are able to hide away at the back of your cooktop until you’re ready to use it. Unlike typical range hoods, retractable downdraft range hoods pull grease and steam downward instead of upward.
White Range Hood Ventilation and Sizes
Before or after choosing a white range hood, you’ll need to decide between vented or non-vented ventilation options. Vented range hoods, also known as ducted range hoods, filter air outside of the home through ductwork. Most hood types are designed to vent through a wall, but you can also vent through your ceiling with an island canopy hood type. Non-vented range hoods, also known as duct-free or recirculated range hoods, filter and recycle the air from your cooktop through a charcoal filter. Instead of cleaning charcoal filters, you’ll need to replace them at least twice a year or more frequently to maintain optimal performance. While deciding between ventilation types, you’ll need to factor in how many BTUs the cooktop below it can produce along with how often and how much you’ll typically cook. After that, you can determine what size white range hood you will need. Maytag offers 30 inch white range hoods to match the width of your range.
Installing and Maintaining Your White Range Hood
Before you install your white range hood, be sure to shut off the power to the range hood and remove the old one if necessary. If this is your kitchen’s first range hood, you may need to install new ductwork and add new wiring. Don’t forget to turn the power back on to your range hood when you’re finished. It’s important to stay on top of cleaning to ensure that your white range hood looks good and works properly. Clean and replace any filters as recommended in the owner’s manual.
