3 METHODS FOR SILENCING A MICROWAVE

One way to learn how to silence a microwave is to refer to your owner’s manual for model-specific information. If that’s not available, here are a few methods that may help you turn off those tones.
1. CHECK FOR A SOUND BUTTON
Your microwave may have a dedicated sound button that allows you to quickly toggle the alerts on or off. This button is often marked with a speaker icon or labeled Sound. If you see this button, press it to silence the beeps.
2. EXPLORE THE SETTINGS MENU
If your microwave doesn’t have a specific sound button, you may find the sound control within the settings menu. Scroll through the menu options for a Sound or Volume setting. Follow the prompts on the screen to adjust the sound settings.
3. SELECT A NUMBER ON THE CONTROL PANEL

Open the microwave door.
Touch and hold the number “1” or “3” on the keypad for about 3 seconds.
Listen for a confirmation tone sound.
Repeat this method to turn programming tones back on.
To turn off all tones including the control pad buttons, follow these steps:

Touch and hold the number “2” on the keypad for about 3 seconds.
Listen for a confirmation tone sound.

HOW TO MUTE A MAYTAG® OVER-THE-RANGE MICROWAVE

Press the Settings button until you see the Sound submenu (SOUND OP).
To turn the volume on or off, press “1” on the keypad to set Button Tones (BTN TONE) and select “1” for Off and “2” for On.
